Monet at the Vittoriano
Extended by Popular request until June 3rd, this special Monet exhibit is right in the center of the city. The Vittoriano museum complex is on the back left hand side of Rome’s “Altare della Patria” (the wedding cake). Official site.
Hiroshige at the Scuderie al Quirinale
From now until the 29th of June, take a little break from ancient Roman art and enjoy the meditative landscapes of Japanese master Hiroshige. The museum is even open until 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Official site.
Summer concerts and opera at the Baths of Caracalla
These concerts, operas, symphonies and dance performances are all presented in the open air of the epic 3rd century ruins of the Baths of Emperor Caracalla. This year’s round up includes Bjork (June 13), Ennio Morricone, Carmen, La Traviata, Romeo and Juliet and more. Official site.
Rome: Trajan: Building an Empire
From now until June 16th discover how one of Rome’s greatest empires expanded the empire to the greatest it had ever been and the relationship between the Roman empire and modern Europe. This exhibit is located in the Markets of Trajan. Official site.

From March 22 to August 26th see JMW Turner at the Chiostro del Bramante right next to Piazza Navona. Official Site.
What’s happening in Florence this spring:
Gucci Garden: New opening of the museum dedicated to the iconic Italian brand
After a long closure, the new Gucci museum is now open, featuring vintage and modern pieces from the iconic brand as well as an Osteria run by famous chef Massimo Bottura. Read my suggestions for Florence’s fashion museums here. Official Site.
Palazzo Strozzi Exhibition: Art, politics and society in 1950’s and 60’s Italy
From 16 March to 22 July 2018 Palazzo Strozzi is hosting an exhibition entitled Dawn of a Nation. From Guttuso to Fontana and Schifano. This exploration of art, politics and society in Italy from the 1950s to the protest years in the late ’60s, with eighty works of art by Italian masters. Official Site.
